Valestis

Valestis was an ancient, lucid elven spirit bound to the haunted fortress known as the Hand of Sehanine (or the Hand of Sehahine). Unlike most of the fortress’s spectral residents who are trapped in repeating, mindless loops due to a millennium-old divine curse, Valestis remains sane and self-aware, tirelessly tending to the ruined gardens of the tower.

The Gardens of the Pinky Tower

Valestis resides in the Pinky, one of the five radiating finger towers of the Hand of Sehanine. The Pinky tower houses the fortress’s gardens, which have been described by the youthful spirit Sehriya as smelling of “rain and earth”. Under the weight of the curse, these grounds withered into a “skeleton of vines”.

Valestis’s primary desire is to restore these withered, rain-scented grounds and “Let the Garden Grow Again”. Along with the librarian Gelarith, Valestis attempted to comfort the young spirit Sehriya, though both warningly believed that no living visitors would ever return to their cursed home.

Breaking the Curse

During their exploration of the Hand of Sehanine, the adventuring party known as the Magnificent Five visited the Pinky tower. To aid Valestis and break the loop of the curse in this sector, the party performed wordless acts of physical compassion. They brought pure water from the Moonwell (located in the Thumb tower) to nourish the parched, cracked stones and planted a pale seed in the soil.

This act of kindness—described as “roots remembering kindness”—caused the withered flora to instantly respond:

“The garden is a skeleton of vines. Yet as water kisses cracked stone and a pale seed touches earth, the air sweetens. Flowers turn their faces toward you.”

By helping Valestis’s garden bloom once more, the party successfully broke the loop of the Pinky tower, weakening the overall madness of the High Mage Larellion and paving the way to lifting the divine curse of Sehanine Moonbow.
