The Old Lighthouse
The Old Lighthouse is a weathered coastal landmark situated along the rugged shoreline of the Sword Coast, positioned on the road leading back to the jewel city of Neverwinter. It serves as a solitary sanctuary and resting point for weary travelers navigating the dangerous frontier paths.
The Journey to the Lighthouse
Following their harrowing exploits at the ancient elven fortress known as the Hand of Sehanine, where the adventurers successfully broke a millennium-old divine curse and laid the spirits of the Archmage Larellion’s daughters to rest, the party began their journey back toward Neverwinter. The trial had taken a heavy toll, particularly on the elderly companion Farwald.
During the final confrontation in the Observatory of the Hand, Farwald was slain by the lich’s death magic and subsequently revived. The shock of death and resurrection caused a deluge of memories from his forgotten past life as the legendary hero Hrothgar Hillsfar to flood his mind, leaving him temporarily dumb and mute. Seeking a quiet refuge to mend his fractured mind, the party halted to rest beside the Old Lighthouse.
Grizelda and the Pirate Ambush
At the lighthouse, the travelers encountered Grizelda. Recognizing Farwald’s profound spiritual and mental trauma, Grizelda began a specialized healing ritual to restore him. However, the delicate ritual was violently interrupted when a band of pirates came ashore and launched an unexpected attack on the camp, forcing the party to fight to defend their vulnerable companion.
