Kord, the Stormlord

Kord, widely known as the Stormlord, is a prominent Prime Deity whose dominion covers battle, competition, and storms. He is worshipped openly across the Sword Coast and the wider world, standing as a patron of warriors, athletes, and all who value courage and physical prowess.

During the catastrophic era known as the Calamity, Kord aligned with the other Prime Deities to defend their mortal creations from the tyrannical Betrayer Gods. This war ravaged the natural world and completely destroyed the grand magical civilizations of the Age of Arcanum. To protect the Material Plane from further divine ruin, Kord and his allies established the Divine Gate, sealing themselves away and sacrificing their ability to physically manifest on the mortal plane. Since then, his power has been channeled exclusively through his most devout followers.

In spiritual and divinatory practices, Kord is closely associated with the ‘Strength’ tarot card, signifying courage and physical prowess. Iconographically, he is represented by a custom card depicting a muscled arm set against a tempestuous background of flashing lightning.
