Greyhaven

Greyhaven is an abandoned, haunted northern port located on the island of Stork’s Rest, situated on the rugged western edge of the Moonshae Isles. Once a thriving harbor where the northern forest met the sea, it has since been entirely reclaimed by the wild forest-magic and a perpetual, thick fog. Today, it stands as a desolate, ruined landmark, shunned by the island’s living residents.

Current State and Hazards

Greyhaven is described as a “rotting skeleton of broken piers.” The surrounding waters and shorelines are highly hostile to travelers. Any vessel attempting to approach the ruined harbor is actively repelled by supernatural forces, including:

Because of these hazards, the port remains completely unreachable by conventional seafaring vessels.

Connection to the Glimmering Deep

The demise of Greyhaven is intimately linked to the Glimmering Deep, the ancient, magical forest covering the northern half of Stork’s Rest. The forest is infamous for its memory-altering mists; those who wander beneath its canopy quickly forget their names, their purposes, and the passage of time.

The exiled Stork family—descended from the legendary dragonslayer Lady Tanager Alagondar—insists that the forest once housed a portal to an older druidic realm of Gwynneth. Following a deadly encounter in which a Stork patriarch was mauled by a Harthwyld (a half-bear, half-stag forest guardian), the island’s inhabitants abandoned the northern reaches entirely. While the villages of Pink Tor, Wraithcliff, and Dunfold continue to scrape out a living on the southern and gentler shores, Greyhaven has been left to rot in isolation, swallowed by the wild arcana of the forest.
