Stormwreck Isle

Stormwreck Isle is a notable island location situated off the rugged and tempestuous shores of the Sword Coast. Surrounded by the untamed wilds and stormy seas of the region, the isle holds a somber and legendary significance in the history of the North as the final resting place of one of its greatest protectors.

History and the Dragon War

Approximately 300 years ago, the emerging cities of the Sword Coast—including Luskan, Neverwinter, Waterdeep, and Baldur’s Gate—faced a catastrophic threat. A coordinated alliance of powerful Chromatic Dragons swept across the region, laying waste to much of the civilized North. In response to this devastation, the historic Lord’s Alliance was forged, uniting the military might of Silverymoon, Waterdeep, Neverwinter, and Baldur’s Gate to drive the draconic invaders back. While the city of Luskan chose to capitulate and offer tribute to the dragons, the combined armies of the Alliance, bolstered by a legendary band of heroes, successfully repelled the threat.

Among these celebrated champions of old was Uther Vendrock, also known as The Silvered Star. A noble Platinum Dragon who fought alongside legendary figures such as Elminster Aumar (the Sage of Shadowdale), Lady Tanager Alagondar of Neverwinter, and Hrothgar Hillsfar, Vendrock was instrumental in defeating the chromatic horde.

Following Uther Vendrock’s death, his remains were interred on Stormwreck Isle, transforming the isolated landmass into a sacred burial site. Today, the island stands as a quiet monument to the ancient Platinum Dragon’s sacrifice and the enduring peace of the Sword Coast.
