Diancastra

Diancastra is the giant-kin goddess of trickery, diplomacy, and planning, celebrated as the favoured daughter of Annam the All-Father. Unlike other giant deities who uphold the rigid caste system of the Ordning, Diancastra represents cleverness, freedom, and adaptability.

The World Tree of Kuldahar

In the frozen expanse of Icewind Dale lies Kuldahar, a Firbolg settlement renowned for its colossal world tree. While most world trees were constructed by Annam, Diancastra was uniquely permitted to create this specific tree. She designed it to exist entirely outside the constraints of the ordin (ordning) that dictates the lives and hierarchies of other giant races.

To shield this sanctuary, giant-kin who live outside the traditional ordning have dedicated themselves to protecting the tree. The Firbolgs are the most prominent of these guardians, shaping their communal lifestyle around the preservation of the tree and isolating the reclusive storm giants dwelling in the adjacent mountains.

Clan Worship and Divine Balance

Within the clans of Kuldahar, skalds and clerics maintain harmony by preaching a balance among three central deities:

Because Torvik lies in a deep slumber, the clerics of the clans primarily draw their power from Othea and Diancastra. As a result, the community’s way of life is deeply anchored in the domains of nature, diplomacy, trickery, and foresight. Clerics acting as diplomats, storytellers, and peacekeepers channel Diancastra’s trickery and planning to navigate both internal clan relations and the dangers of the outside world.
