The Serpentwind Coast is a sun-bleached, meandering jungle shoreline located far to the south and west of the great city of Waterdeep. Renowned for its wild beauty, treacherous waters, and dangerous, untamed reaches, it serves as a legendary boundary where the deep jungles meet the rolling seas.

Cult Activity and Recent Events

For centuries, the coast remained a quiet, legendary backdrop. However, recent events have thrust it back into the attention of scholars and defenders of the realm. Following a fierce confrontation at the Dragon Barrow, adventurers recovered a cracked, fractured blue sending stone from the debris.

Upon examining the damaged artifact, Archmage Vael Tarmyth of Neverwinter’s Small Council noted that the stone’s partner was located far to the southwest, pointing toward either the wastes of Ankharel or the shores of the Serpentwind Coast. This discovery strongly indicates that the Cult of the Dragon, which seeks to raise the fallen dragons, has extended its reach to the Serpentwind Coast.

Maritime Lore and the Kraken

The waters off the coast are known to be perilous and wild. A young sailor named Mittens, who was impressed into the Waterdeep navy off the Serpentwind Coast, tells a legendary shipboard tale of brave adventurers who once commandeered their vessel, The Providence Queen, to battle a colossal kraken lurking in the deep waters of the coastline.
