Pink Tor is the main settlement on the island of Stork’s Rest, which sits on the ragged, wind-torn western edge of the Moonshae Isles. Situated on the island’s southern coast, the settlement is named after a prominent pink-granite bluff that famously glows at sunrise.

The Great Oyster Dive

Every summer solstice, the waters off the southern coast of Pink Tor host the Great Oyster Dive, a boisterous local festival. Young locals dive into offshore kelp forests to retrieve oysters that have absorbed the island’s ambient magic—partially bleeding out from the enchanted northern forest known as the Glimmering Deep.

These oysters occasionally yield glowing or humming pearls that grant whimsical blessings, which are often sold to merchants from Waterdeep. The winner of the dive receives a ring set with a magic pearl, conferring improbable luck, sea-colored dreams, and fortuitous “accidents.” Gilmore Stork famously won this contest three years in a row, much to his father Thalorian’s dismay, who viewed it as a peasant pastime.

Connection to the House of Stork

The settlement’s history is deeply intertwined with the exile of the Stork family. Generations ago, Gilmore’s great-grandfather married into coastal raider and pirate clans, defying the High King of the Moonshaes. Spared from execution due to their descent from the legendary dragonslayer hero Lady Tanager Alagondar, the family was instead banished to this salt-scoured rock.

From the Pink Tower, the family spent three generations forging alliances with local pirate clans and outlying villages, all while harboring a bitter desire to reclaim their rightful place at the High King’s side. Children of the house are raised on the strict Oath of the Crown, though second-born sons like Gilmore often felt the conflicting pull of the wild forest and the sea.
