Tharizdun: The Chained Oblivion
Tharizdun, widely feared as The Chained Oblivion, is an ancient Elder Evil and a mad deity of absolute destruction. Among the pantheon, he is classified as one of the Betrayer Gods—malevolent entities whose worship is outlawed or heavily suppressed by civilized societies due to their ruinous and harmful natures. Unlike the Prime Deities who nurtured and protected mortal life, the Betrayer Gods sought to dominate, destroy, or enslave creation during the epochal conflict known as the Calamity.
Symbolism and Tarot Association
Within mystical and divinatory practices, Tharizdun is strongly tied to specific symbolic representations:
- Tarot Card: The Five of Pentacles.
- Core Themes: Oblivion, the Void, and total nothingness.
- Visual Iconography: In customized divinatory decks, his essence is depicted as a colossal Kraken bound and chained to the cold ocean floor, representing his current state of imprisonment and the sheer, dormant terror he poses to the cosmos.
