The Plate of the Pact

The Plate of the Pact is a legendary artifact of immense craftsmanship, forged during the height of the Age of Arcanum and preserved within the deepest chambers of Wave Echo Cave. Adorned with beautiful silver scrolling and priceless, cut rubies, this exceptional set of brass-and-gold plate armor stands as a physical testament to the ancient alliance known as the Pact of Phandelver.

History and Origins

Eons ago, during the Age of Arcanum, the mortal races achieved unimaginable feats of magic and technology. Under the guidance and creation of Gond, the Spell Forge was constructed, serving as a focal point for the combined powers of humans, elves, and dwarves. The Plate of the Pact was sealed within this forge alongside other relics of immense power.

When the catastrophic war known as The Calamity brought an end to this golden age, the Pact was undone from within and without. Anticipating his demise and the fall of the forge to the Betrayer Gods’ armies, Gond sealed the inner sanctum and left its protection in the hands of The Blacksmith (also known as the Guardian of the Forge), an enormous metal creation designed to test the mettle of any future seekers.

Recovery

A millennium later, an adventuring party known as The Magnificent Five breached the final seal of the Spell Forge. By activating Gond’s Smelter—a process requiring the “Mettle of the Dwarves,” the “Grace of the Elves” (the light of a Moonbeam spell), and the “Ingenuity of the Humans” (blue-burning wood and local ore)—the party opened the doors to the forge’s inner chamber.

After a fierce battle, the party deactivated the Guardian of the Forge, discovering the Plate of the Pact among the chamber’s final treasures, alongside other legendary artifacts such as Cabal’s Ruin, the Circlet of Larrelion, Nolzur’s Magnificent Pigments, and a Deck of Many Things.
