Bracers of Barkskin

The Bracers of Barkskin are a pair of protective magical armaments crafted to resemble natural, rugged wood. They provide significant defensive enhancements, drawing upon the protective essences of nature to shield their wearer from harm.

Properties and Magical Effects

When donned, the Bracers of Barkskin immediately sheath the wearer in a protective, bark-like ward. This enchantment grants a permanent Barkskin effect, raising the wearer’s Armor Class (AC) to a minimum of 16. This provides invaluable protection for spellcasters, druids, and other lightly armored adventurers who find themselves on the front lines of conflict.

History and Acquisition

The bracers were originally held within the private collection of Lucian Nightshade, the Spymaster of Neverwinter and local chapter leader of the secret society known as the Zhentarim. Lucian kept them stored securely inside a hidden cache within his residence, Nightshade Manor, located in the prestigious Blacklake District of Neverwinter. Accessing this cache required turning a small, inconspicuous statue on a side table, which caused a bookshelf to swing open and reveal his secret vault.

Following a daring sewer infiltration to reach the quarantined Blacklake District, the half-elf rogue Erevyn Sehahine and the fairy druid Nalini of the Arbor glade met with Lucian to exchange vital intelligence regarding the Neverwinter Council, the Dragon Cult, and the threat of the Luskan undead. Recognizing the perils of their upcoming missions, Lucian presented Nalini with the Bracers of Barkskin to bolster her defenses. She wore them into the subsequent trials, drastically improving her resilience against the physical and magical dangers of the Sword Coast.
