Erëvyn Sehahine
Erëvyn Sehahine is an adventurer of insatiable curiosity and notoriously terrible luck. Originally traveling south from the city of Neverwinter along the High Road bound for the frontier settlement of Phandalin, his vast curiosity about the wider world was shaped by the tales of faraway visitors arriving on the Neverwinter docks—including legendary myths of the Age of Arcanum and the devastating Calamity. He eventually became a founding member of the celebrated adventuring party known as The Magnificent Five (sometimes referred to as the Fantastic Five).

Unbeknownst to many of his companions initially, Erëvyn is a member of the Zhentarim—an ancient guild of spies, thieves, and smugglers—alongside Phandalin’s local spymistress Halia Thorton and Lucian Nightshade. He also carries an ancient and legendary lineage, sharing a direct bloodline connection with the elven House of Sehahine, descendants of Archmage Larellion.
“You survived, my boy. That’s all any of us can do. We carry the burden of knowledge.”
Origins in Neverwinter
Erëvyn was born in the docks district of Neverwinter to a human dockworker and an elven nurse. As a child, he spent his youth exploring arriving ships and absorbing sailor stories from local taverns. His thirst for adventure began on a midnight dare from a friend when he climbed a large dock crane. Struck by the quiet solitude and the views from the heights, he realized his calling: slipping into hard-to-reach, forbidden places to learn secrets about the people and cargo moving through the docks. He soon became addicted to these nightly excursions, exploring warehouses, tracing the city’s hidden gossip, and noting where the dock cats hunted and the tavern wenches spread rumors. During these adventures, he frequently noticed a recurring, mysterious symbol: a dragon swallowing a moon.
When the magical plague known as the Wailing Death afflicted Neverwinter, quarantine left his father out of work and his mother occupied tending the ill. To support his family and suffering neighbors, Erëvyn began lifting food and goods from the wealthy noble houses of the Blacklake district, taking only what was needed so as not to be easily missed. During one of these stealthy excursions into a noble’s cellar, he discovered a letter from Waterdeep describing a four-creature cure for the plague. The letter was signed “J. G.” (later revealed to be Jamra Gleamsilver) and bore the dragon-and-moon symbol.
It was during this raid that Erëvyn, startled by a sudden rustling, jumped into the rafters only to find himself face-to-face with another climber perched there—the homeowner, Lucian Nightshade, the local leader of the Zhentarim. Recognizing the half-elf’s potential, Lucian took Erëvyn under his wing, training him in espionage, code-breaking, reading people and financial ledgers, re-sealing letters, and stealth. Under Lucian, Erëvyn learned the core tenet of his new family: “Knowledge is Power.” He also discovered that Lucian and his allies were actively working to rehabilitate the dark reputation of the ancient Zhentarim order into a premier organization of diplomats, spies, and smugglers.
First Mission: The Road to Phandalin
After a year of training, Erëvyn overheard a secret conversation between Sildar Hallwinter (a retired soldier and fixer for the Lord’s Alliance) and the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker. Gundren boasted of “finding something big” and needing guards to escort supplies south to Phandalin. Lucian dispatched Erëvyn on his first official Zhentarim mission: hire himself out to Gundren, investigate what had been found, and report back. Lucian assured him that Zhentarim allies would never be far, recognizable by the dragon-and-moon crest.
Joining Farwald, Gilmore, Nalini, and Hope, Erëvyn helped escort the supply cart bound for Barthen’s Provisions. Despite his misfortune—which frequently required his companions to administer healing magic—Erëvyn proved to be a highly skilled archer.
When the party faced a goblin ambush on the road, where Sildar and Gundren’s horses were killed, Erëvyn and Hope boldly charged ahead to confront the attackers. After a brief interrogation of a surviving goblin, they tracked the raiders to their lair, the Cragmaw Hideout. At the hideout, Erëvyn demonstrated his lethal precision by shooting two goblin sentries in the throat outside and sniping the lookouts stationed on the cave’s bridge while Gilmore and Hope freed the captive wolves. He subsequently assisted Gilmore, Hope, and Farwald in defeating the bugbear chieftain Klarg and his goblin henchmen, successfully rescuing Sildar Hallwinter. On the final leg of the journey to Phandalin, Erëvyn discovered a Ring of Protection on the body of a petrified dwarf.
Confrontation at Tristan Manor
Upon arriving in Phandalin, the party investigated the local ruffians known as the Redbrands. Exploring the ruins of Tristan Manor, they descended into the cellar headquarters of the gang. In the ensuing confrontation with the wizard Glasstaff, Erëvyn managed to shoot the wizard’s staff out of his hand. Although Glasstaff critically injured Erëvyn during the fierce battle, Nalini quickly healed him. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Erëvyn rose to his feet and saved Gilmore from being overwhelmed by a Half-Ogre, killing the beast with a well-placed arrow. Following the battle, the party retrieved several magical relics—including a Bag of Holding, the Glasstaff, and Elminster Aumar’s book “The Rise and Fall of the Pact of Phandelver”—and Myrna Tristan ultimately bequeathed the manor to the group.
Undercover Infiltration and the Zhentarim’s Price
After the townmaster Harbin Wester presented the magical deed of ownership of Tristan Manor to the party, officially naming them The Magnificent Five, Erëvyn chose to temporarily step away from the group’s immediate travels, assuring his companions that he “was never very far away if he was needed.”
While his companions undertook other errands, Erëvyn leveraged his secret connection to the Zhentarim. He trained with Phandalin’s local Zhentarim operative, Halia Thorton, for weeks, and together they attempted to spy on the Spider himself. However, the mission took a dark and tragic turn: to maintain his cover and successfully ingratiate himself with the mysterious mastermind Nezznar—a Drider who had been defiling ancient dwarven altars in service of Lolth—Erëvyn was forced to kill Halia. Nezznar labeled Erëvyn as Halia’s “whelp” who had sworn himself to his service, and Halia’s lifeless body was left hanging in the entryway of Wave Echo Cave.
Despite the grim circumstances of his infiltration, Erëvyn remained loyal to his allies. He managed to secretly send a message to his companions in the Magnificent Five to alert them of his deep-cover status, warning them of the Spider’s operations and frustration over his lost lieutenants Klarg and Glasstaff. During the party’s final, desperate battle against the Spider in Wave Echo Cave, Erëvyn struck from the shadows, delivering the decisive killing blow by shooting the Spider cleanly through the eyes, thus reuniting with his companions on the cusp of reaching Gond’s Smelter and the Forge of Spells.
Highharvesttide and Halia’s Legacy
Following the defeat of the Spider and the securing of the Forge of Spells, the town of Phandalin erupted in celebration for Highharvesttide. Not one for public merriment, Erëvyn slunk away from the gatherings to visit the local graveyard. Standing before Halia Thorton’s fresh grave, marked with a temporary headstone reading “She died so that we could live,” he discovered a mysterious amulet. The amulet, shaped like a dragon with a bent wing and a small moon in its mouth, activated upon his touch, unfurling its wings to play a final message from Halia.

Through this message, Halia warned Erëvyn of a deep schism within the Zhentarim and urged him to choose a side rather than making her mistake. She revealed the Zhentarim chapter leaders she knew of:
- Lucian Nightshade (Neverwinter)
- Nezznar the Spider (The Underdark)
- Jamra Gleamsilver (Waterdeep)
- Alistair and Catherine Blackwell (Luskan)
- The Pereghost (The Moonshae Isles)
Entrusting Erëvyn with the guild’s core belief, “Knowledge is Power,” Halia’s lingering words left Erëvyn to ponder his place in the shadows of the Sword Coast.
"Do not make the mistake I did. Choose a side.”
The Zhentarim Schism and Bloodline Visions
Following the party’s triumph in Wave Echo Cave, Erëvyn opened up to his companions regarding the severe schism fracturing the Zhentarim. He detailed a conflict between two major factions: the moderate branch represented by himself, Halia, Lucian, and Jamra, versus a more aggressive, violent faction. Erëvyn and his allies deduced that this hostile faction was collaborating with the Cult of the Dragon.
During a late-night watch under the autumn sky, Erëvyn looked up at the Tears of Selune twinkling with unnatural brilliance. He was suddenly overcome by an ancient elven song and a haunting vision of Gilmore, Nalini, and Farwald sitting in wicker chairs within an old forest hut, listening to a singing skeleton. Deeply intrigued by the quest given to the party by the banshee Agatha, Erëvyn realized his own elven bloodline shared a mystical connection to the Hand of Sehanine—the legendary elven tower of prophecy and magic once ruled by Archmage Larellion, the father of Agatha and Vyldara.
“Erevyn, blood of my blood: Carry the Pact forward. Do not make the same mistakes as we made. Work together with these true friends of yours. Help each other. Do not walk alone as I once did.”
This familial connection compelled Erëvyn to journey north to the ancient dwarven fortress of Axeholm with his companions. There, they confronted the cursed banshee Vyldara. When she unleashed her terrifying, soul-shaking banshee’s wail, it tore through the party’s ranks, knocking nearly everyone unconscious except for Erëvyn and Gotrek. Demonstrating incredible resolve, Erëvyn and Gotrek spoke with the raging spirit, buying valuable time for their companions to heal and prepare. Ultimately, the party helped Gilmore sever her connection. In her final moments of lucidity, Vyldara addressed Erëvyn as “blood of my blood,” urging him to carry the Pact forward, acknowledging his “Grace of Selune,” and advising him to rely on his companions rather than walking alone in the dark.
Interlude: Helm’s Hold and the Return to Neverwinter
Following their deeds in Axeholm and on the road north, the party stopped at Helm’s Hold—a fortified monastery dedicated to Erathis—seeking a cleric to fully restore Farwald’s mind. Inside, Erëvyn and Farwald negotiated with a halfling cleric named Sandra, successfully securing a Lesser Restoration spell in exchange for gold and diamond dust. However, Erëvyn’s rogue tendencies got the better of him; using his thieves’ tools, he scratched the code “ACAB” into one of the monastery’s walls. This act prompted the strict paladin guards to physically escort the party out, banning them from Helm’s Hold permanently.
Arriving in Neverwinter at sundown, Erëvyn guided his companions through the city’s streets to the Docks district, where his sister Ophelia lived with her roommate Yeva. Yeva welcomed the travelers and shared rumors of skyrocketing food and lumber prices amid a brewing war with Luskan. Later that night, Erëvyn quietly snuck into his parents’ house. Finding his father asleep, he left a heartwarming note on the table to let them know he was safe, slipping away without waking them.
Journey to the Hand of Sehanine
Guided by Selune’s hand and visions granted by Vyldara’s Heartstone, the Magnificent Five traveled to the ruined village of Leilon. On the outskirts of the village, they found the rocky mound that housed the half-phased tower. Waiting until nightfall, Erëvyn held the Heartstone aloft, parting the clouds and allowing the full moon to phase the shimmering Hand of Sehanine back into the Material Plane.

Upon entering, Erëvyn was personally addressed by the goddess Selune. She noted his bravery, his strength of heart, and his curious mind, but challenged him to exhibit the compassion and empathy that his ancestors had famously failed to show.
Inside, the party navigated the haunted spires, easing the loops of the cursed elven spirits wordlessly. In the crystal-and-adamant lattice of the Observatory within the Middle Finger, they confronted the Baelnorn Larellion. During this fierce clash of blades and magic, Farwald was temporarily slain before being miraculously revived. During the chaotic fray, Erëvyn used his words to coax and strengthen the last remaining threads of sanity hanging on within the Archmage’s soul, ultimately bringing the Baelnorn to repentance and ending his malevolent curse. Erëvyn and his companions presented proof of Vyldara and Agatha’s peace, allowing the mad archmage to repent and break the millennium-old curse.
As a reward for his ancestral reclamation and resolve, Erëvyn received a Boon of Selune and was gifted legendary elven relics of the Hand, including the Circlet of Larellion, enhancing his magic and firmly sealing his place as a true protector of the valley. Following Larellion’s fall, Erëvyn offered his heartfelt support to Nalini and Gilmore as they underwent a delicate, high-stakes resurrection ritual to call Farwald’s soul back from the cosmos.
Infiltration of the Dragon Barrow
Erëvyn accompanied his allies into the cavernous depths beneath the Dragon Barrow. Unbeknownst to them initially, they had actually entered the skeletal, hollowed remains of the ancient green dragon, Villathas (Virethas), the Jade Queen. The party was ambushed by the Cult of the Dragon, led by Sidorna, the Green Wyrmspeaker, who sought the dragon slayer sword to break the ward binding the dragon’s soul.
During the intense battle, Erëvyn slipped into the shadows, turning completely invisible by utilizing his Cloak of Displacement. When Farwald used a powerful Thunderstep spell to teleport himself and Erëvyn ninety feet closer to the inner ritual chamber, Erëvyn bypassed the defensive ranks of cultists. Navigating through the rising noxious poison gas, he reached the ritual altar. Recognizing the potential usefulness of the Staff of Frost’s counterspell capabilities, Erëvyn delivered a devastating, critically precise arrow strike to the Green Wyrmspeaker Sidorna, channeling all four charges of his Cloak of Lightning to inflict massive damage (50 total damage).
Though Sidorna sacrificed her remaining followers to complete the ritual—bringing back a weakened, adult shadow of Villathas fused with Gilmore’s sister Elira—Erëvyn and his companions managed to escape the shifting, rising skeletal beast by leaping out of a massive hole painted into the cavern wall by Farwald. After the battle, Erëvyn searched the wreckage where Villathas had erupted and discovered a cracked blue sending stone, whose partner black stone lay shattered nearby. Sensing its potential significance, Erëvyn kept the cracked sending stone a secret from his companions for the moment. To prepare for the subsequent landing of Neverwinter’s elite Griffin Riders led by Lady Arabeth de Tylmarande, Erëvyn fed an invisibility potion to their horse Trixie—causing the beast considerable distress—and successfully snuck behind a low hill to secure an overwatch position.

Return to Neverwinter and Sewer Secrets
With war declared between Neverwinter and Luskan, Lady Arabeth summoned the Magnificent Five to appear before Lord Alagondar’s Small Council in three days. Arriving in Neverwinter, the party split up to seek leverage. Erëvyn and Nalini slipped into the Blacklake District by descending into the sewer system, braving unusually high, knee-deep water levels and a rushing sound from upstream. After emerging soaking wet and drying off, they visited Erëvyn’s mentor, Lucian Nightshade, at Nightshade Manor.
Lucian, who sits on the Small Council as Lord Alagondar’s Spymaster, revealed that he strongly suspects a high-level mole on the council, given massive intelligence failures. He updated Erëvyn on the fractured Zhentarim: the Pereghost remained missing, and Jamra Gleamsilver in Waterdeep was suspiciously quiet. Lucian warmly absolved Erëvyn of Halia’s death, advising him that survival in the shadows is the paramount duty. He also advised Erëvyn that fighting dragons requires matched aerial speed. Before departing, Erëvyn successfully pocketed a smoke bomb from Lucian’s hidden study cache, an act Lucian noticed but chose to silently permit.
Following Lucian’s guidance, the party traveled to Beggar’s Nest and entered the Cha-Ching casino. There, they met Anthony “the Gentleman” Calloway, a towering half-orc underworld kingpin with a broken tusk. Short-handed due to war conscription, the Gentleman offered to trade vital intelligence about the council’s compromised members in exchange for a favor: the party must navigate the sewers, locate the city’s missing Head of Sewers and Waterways, Patricius (who had fled with a powerful magical ring used to run the waterworks), and bring him back alive. Accepting the deal, Erëvyn prepares to plunge back into the dark underbelly of his home city.
The Sewer Incursion and the Peninsula Split
Descending into the sewers once more, Erëvyn and his companions located Patricius, only to find him captured by a band of Luskan Pirates who were using Patricius’s Ring of Control Water Elementals to command a hostile water elemental. Although the party defeated the pirates, Patricius was killed in the fray. Finding the pale, opal-blue ring along with a Luskan signaling lantern confirming deep city infiltration, the party opted to hide the powerful ring inside their Bag of Holding rather than return it to the Gentleman. To keep the Gentleman cooperative, they brought him Patricius’s body and claimed Luskanites had killed him and stolen the ring. Anthony Calloway accepted the ruse, delivering half the reward along with a crucial lead: Talis the White was locked up in the high-security cells of the Peninsula Prison.
Using this information, Erevyn coordinated with Lucian Nightshade to secure access to the high-security prison cells, actively attempting to reach Talis the White. Erevyn sent a message to Lucian with an accusation against Admiral Lionheart, proposing a daring scheme to plant a Glyph of Warding rigged with a Zone of Truth on the council to unmask the traitor. Although Lucian warned him of the extreme political risk of baseless accusations, he agreed to waylay Admiral Lionheart to keep him away from the council meeting.
Erevyn subsequently attended the high-stakes meeting with Lord Alagondar’s Small Council at Castle Never. Stepping into an anti-magic field that temporarily deactivated all of his and his allies’ magical gear, the party presented proof of the dragon cult’s operations—including the broken blue sending stone, the Spider’s journals, and reports of the sewer infiltration. This evidence earned them the “benign negligence” of the council, securing a massive credit of 8,000 gold with the Cloaktower for spellcasting services and reagents to fund their upcoming expedition.
With plans underway to march north to Icewind Dale to recover the White Dragon Mask from Hrothgar’s empty tomb, Erevyn strongly pushed for a land route. Advocating for a head-on march, Erevyn expressed his desire to fight through the frontline of Port Llast on principle, declaring that digging trenches and engaging the enemy directly is far more interesting than sneaking through the woods.
The Voyage of The Providence Queen and the Morkoth’s Thrall
Following the council’s session, Erevyn and Gilmore headed down to the Neverwinter docks to secure passage north. Consulting with Erevyn’s sister, Ophelia, they learned of The Providence Queen, a merchant ship that normally sailed to Keoland. They negotiated with Captain Eriac and First Mate Nika, hiring the ship for 500 gold to ferry them as close as possible to the Throat of the World Mountains, west of Luskan.
On the fourth morning of their voyage, an unnatural, impenetrable fog engulfed the ship, causing it to scrape against rocks and ground itself on a mysterious, uncharted island. Exploring the island, the party found it littered with bizarre artifacts, art pieces, and knickknacks spanning various eras. Enticed by a psychic compulsion, Erevyn blindly entered a central cavern, followed closely by his allies, who had begun noticing several of their personal belongings were missing.
Deep within the cave, they discovered their stolen possessions in the hoard of a Morkoth—a bizarre, tentacled beast. The creature telepathically enthralled Erevyn, turning him against his companions. Under the influence of this charm, Erevyn turned his bow upon his allies and shot Gilmore directly in the chest with a powerful arrow. A chaotic battle erupted, filled with magical darkness, lightning, and summoned myconids. Despite the creature’s ability to reflect spells, Gilmore eventually closed the distance and smote the Morkoth, breaking its mental grip on Erevyn. After recovering, Erevyn and the party plundered the beast’s hoard, securing 5,000 platinum pieces, valuable jewels, and 3,000 gold worth of priceless artwork inside their Bag of Holding before helping the crew repair The Providence Queen and continuing their voyage north.
Ascent of the Throat of the World
Upon making landfall, the party began their arduous trek through the freezing pass of the Throat of the World Mountains. Ill-prepared for the brutal northern elements in his thin city clothes, Erevyn quickly succumbed to the intense cold, suffering a severe level of exhaustion that was only mitigated after Farwald offered survival guidance and enhanced his physical stamina. While climbing through a narrow valley, the party was suddenly caught in a devastating avalanche. Staggered by the slide, Erevyn took considerable damage, lost his bearings, and was buried deep beneath six feet of dense snow. Left suffocating and mere minutes from death, he was miraculously dug out and rescued by Eole, a dark-haired half-elf Uthgardt ranger who had been tracking them. Erevyn recognized her clan from childhood comic books he read about the legendary founder Reghed, and he struck up a warm rapport with the ranger, gifting her a handful of magical walloping arrows in exchange for a warm, snow-fox hat.
Shortly after, the party fell into a brutal ambush by a wight commander and his undead minions. During the fierce skirmish, Erevyn was struck by a necrotic life-drain attack from the commander, which permanently reduced his maximum hit points by five. He also faced a sobering lesson during the combat: because his bow was not magical, his ordinary arrows proved completely useless against the wights’ immunity to nonmagical damage, leaving him with an urgent need to secure a magically enhanced bow. Despite this setback, the party triumphed, and Erevyn successfully identified a magical ivory igloo—a one-use Leomund’s Tiny Hut—recovered from the wreckage of the wights’ caravan. Safe under the cover of their newly secured shelter, the party rested to heal their wounds as they prepared to march on toward the frozen settlements of Icewind Dale.
