Dabbledob

Dabbledob is a prominent gnomish inventor residing in the subterranean settlement of Gnomengarde. Alongside fellow inventor Dimblestib, Dabbledob represents the pinnacle of gnomish ingenuity, crafting all manner of magical items and clever mechanical contraptions.

The Gnomengarde Crisis

During a visit from the adventuring party known as the Magnificent Five, who sought magical assistance to defend the region against the white dragon Cryovain, Dabbledob and Dimblestib alerted the travelers to “strange happenings” occurring deep within the settlement’s caves.

These warnings proved vital. It was soon discovered that Gnomengarde had been infiltrated by a pair of shape-shifting doppelgangers. The presence of these impostors had driven King Korboz into a state of absolute paranoia, leading him to tie up his beloved co-ruler, King Gnerki, in a desperate bid for safety. With the clues provided by the inventors, the adventurers exposed the threat, killed one of the doppelgangers, and restored order to the realm.

Working Conditions in Gnomengarde

Operating as an inventor in Gnomengarde presents unique challenges. The local magical Weave is notoriously unstable, introducing wild, unpredictable side effects to any spells cast within the caverns. Despite this atmospheric hazard, Dabbledob and the gnomish collective maintain a symbiotic relationship with the surrounding environment, living in close proximity to a colony of subterranean Myconids and relying on clever engineering to thrive.
