Torog
Torog is one of the Betrayer Gods, a pantheon of malevolent deities whose worship is suppressed or conducted in secret due to their destructive and harmful natures. He is known to those who fear his name as The Crawling King.
Domain and Nature
Torog reigns as the god of torture and enslavement (referred to in ancient records as “slavement”). Unlike the benevolent Prime Deities who championed mortals during the historic conflict known as the Calamity, Torog and his fellow Betrayer Gods sought to destroy or enslave mortal life. Despite the public viewing them as inherently ruinous, these dark deities are recognized as holding a necessary, albeit terrifying, place in the ultimate balance of the world.
Symbolism and Divination
In esoteric practices and fortune-telling, Torog’s influence is tied to specific symbolic representations:
- Tarot Card Alignment: The Hanged Man
- Divinatory Fortune: Entrapment, Loss of Freedom, and Slavery
- Custom Card Depiction: A hanged person suspended upside down
